This year’s quarter marathon and Easter Fun Run kicks off from Boscombe Pier on April 19 Easter Saturday, with hundreds of people expected to take part.
Andrew Dawson from Roberts Lettings and Estate Agents in Charminster is among runners expected at the Bournemouth East Cliff Rotary Club event, which includes a two mile run along the promenade for all the family and a more challenging 6.5 mile course for hardened runners aged 16-80.
Runners are invited to raise cash for their own choices of charity and the remainder – which last year totalled in excess of £7,000 – will go to the club’s current charities, including Bournemouth Food Bank, The Prostate Cancer Research Centre and the Scouts Movement.
Quarter marathon runners will start and finish just east of Boscombe Pier, running along the promenade to Southbourne and then returning around the roads west of Hengistbury Head and back.
Andrew said, “Roberts have sponsored this event for several years and are happy to continue to do so. There is a huge amount of work carried out behind the scenes by the Rotary Club of East Cliff Bournemouth to try to ensure the event happens every year and that it continues to raise funds for local causes. Roberts are pleased to be a part of it .”
Lots of prizes are up for grabs, at the UK Athletics registered event, as well as Easter eggs and medals for those taking part.
Race Director Keith Loveless said: “We’re hoping for a bumper turnout for our tenth annual run.
“It’s always great fun, and usually the weather is good. Come and burn off those extra calories – then you can tuck in to the chocolate Easter egg without feeling guilty.”
